Michael A. Owens, PhD, is an associate professor in the Educational Leadership and Foundations Department at Brigham Young University. He has taught courses in educational leadership, professional development, evidence-informed decision making for continuous school improvement, multicultural education, and qualitative research methods. He began his career as a bilingual elementary and adult education teacher before transitioning into academia. His academic interests include family and community engagement in schools, leader/followership, first generation student transitions from k-12 to higher education, and continuous school improvement.
